The 12 acre waterfront estate is surrounded by more than 6000 acres of preserved land which provides a truly secluded wedding and event experience. The estate boasts an extensive waterfront with a massive deck and boat house for buffet and hors d’oeuvres in between ceremony and reception. The mansion front lawn can host the most massive reception tents and provides a panoramic view of the river. Our massive civil war era rustic dairy barn is great for hosting the largest receptions, ceremonies, or other events. The 10 bedroom, 280 year old mansion house is ideal for hosting special event guests, family reunions, or retreats.
The manor house can accommodate the largest of groups with 10 classically appointed bedrooms, 8 1/2 marble bathrooms and 6 fireplaces. The estate grounds also boast a large boat house with a kitchen and dining hall, expansive multi-tiered 2400 sq. ft. deck overlooking the Cohansey, large private boat ramp, dock, billiard/game house, 5600 sq. ft. historic dairy barn, corn crib, and several other buildings of historic interest.
Eagle Manor has a long and colorful history which includes the revolutionary war, the underground railroad, pirates, bootleggers, smugglers, and ghosts. The historic manor home, known previously as the Sheppard Brick House, was built in 1736 by English settlers and is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. It features extremely rare and historic classic brick patterns and Flemish bond brickwork. It has been completely renovated to provide all necessary modern amenities while still preserving its original charm.
Weddings
Hold your ceremony or reception in our rustic dairy barn, massive river deck, or in a waterfront pavilion on our estate’s front lawn. Stay the night, or the week in our pre-colonial mansion which easily accommodates 20 guests.
Birdwatching
The Cohansey river, which flows through the Eagle Manor estate, boasts the largest population of bald eagles in New Jersey and is centrally located on the eastern migratory flyway. The Ospreys are as thick as flies. There’s no better place this close to home to view endangered and threatened bird species in their natural habitat.
Kayaking
Thirty miles of unspoiled Cohansey river to explore with hardly another boat in sight. This deepest river in New Jersey can accommodate the largest boats as well as the smallest kayaks. The estate is a short paddle to the Delaware Bay for those seeking more open waters.
Hunting
The Eagle Manor estate resides within a 6000+ acre wildlife management area. The duck/goose hunting is phenomenal since the property is on the eastern migratory flyway. It’s also regularly stocked with upland birds. There’s also a thriving deer and turkey population. Once you’ve bagged your limit, you can take have a well-deserved rest in front of the fireplace in our sun room.
Fishing
There’s no better fishing in New Jersey than at Eagle Manor. Our secret is our illuminated wharf. Catfish and perch are plentiful. Fish with the kids in one of the six other ponds surrounding the property where sunfish and bass are plentiful. We’re just 15 minutes from the Delaware Bay if you prefer deep sea fishing. You can catch a charter boat out of Fortescue, less than 30 minutes away for Striper fishing.
