Hiking
Explore the wilderness of the Delaware Bay Shore
Come enjoy nature!
Eagle Manor offers many types of hikes. From leisurely strolls along the beach at Seabreeze or Cohansey Point to all day hikes through the wilderness where you won’t see another person.
Some of the trails are marked/mapped like the NJ Coastal Heritage Trail. Others aren’t officially documented anywhere else but upon the ground where they lay. There are also historic hikes across the river in Greenwich, or up the river in Bridgeton.
Come by yourself, or bring your entire hiking club. The Manor house can accommodate large groups.
Eagle Manor lies along the New Jersey Coastal Heritage trail which extends along eastern and southern coast of New Jersey for nearly 300 miles.
While there are no guarantees in wildlife viewing, seeing a wild Bald Eagle along this route is virtually certain. – njwildlifetrails.org
The trail travels along the Raritan Bay from Perth Amboy to Sandy Hook, along Jersey Shore at the Atlantic Ocean to Cape May, and along the Delaware Bay to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The trail encompasses a variety of New Jersey state parks along with facilities under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service. In the case of Eagle Manor, the trail circumnavigates the Dix Wildlife Management Area.
While they don’t have an official designation, there are plenty of trails surrounding Eagle Manor and along the Cohansey River. Explore Back Neck Rd. as it becomes a dirt path that winds past multiple eagle and osprey nests. Check out Middle Marsh the Dix Wildlife Management area. Follow your path to Seabreeze to follow the progress of the NJ wetlands restoration project. And that’s just the beginning. There’s much more to explore at Eagle Manor.
